Theatre Poster

This is the theater poster for hair. I'm not familiar with the musical but based on what I do know about it, this poster suits it nicely. The musical was very controversial in it's time so I think using big a bright colors for the poster was a good idea. The element of the hair taking up most of the picture works because that is the name of the musical.

Theatre poster:Evil Dead

I really like this poster because it rakes the classic Mama Mia poster and turns it on its head by introducing zombies to the scene. It invokes sorrow and loss while at the same time creating interest. Im not sure what this musical is about but it looks alot more interesting than most other musicals ive heard of.

In this poster design they make the hair on the figure the most important and interesting part of the poster. This is important because in the era that the play is set in, hair and individuality is very important. The simple shapes and easily identifiable person really make the over all poster effective. The splashes of color throughout the poster bring the whole composition to life and make the musical look interesting and fun.

Theatre Poster- Lauren Chaloupka

I chose this poster because I really love the contrast. The black witch is obviously the evil one, while the white, pure one is the good one. Also the red lips on the evil witch pops and attracts my eyes. You can tell from this poster that the play will be mostly about these two characters.

Theatre Poser_The Producers

I chose the poster design for the musical The Producers because I really liked this musical. The design attracts my attention due to the use of color and symmetrical balance. The musical The Producers is about two producers and a women who is wanting to fulfill her role as an actress in the world of Hollywood. The poster elements represent the movie very well considering it has silhouettes of the two producers looking off into the sunset. The sunset could resemble the conclusion of success into the Hollywood world that its a job well done. Color contrast between the black, yellow and red creates simplicity and doesn't take away but add to the overall composition.

Theatre Poster: West Side Story

I believe that West Side Story's poster shows the complicated love story with contrasting colors and tiny images of people scattered in between the lines. I really liked the musical and loved the poster because you have to jump from one side to the other in order, making it hard to stay focused on the title, the real issue in the story. This use of sharp contrast between the title and the images, along with small letters listing the dates and times for the event that blend into the rest of the poster, tell the reader to complicated issues in the play, and the conflicting sides to the same story between the characters.

The Lion King

I chose the poster for Lion King: The Musical because it is a great example of a poster designer. Here, the designer kept it simple yet recognizable by using one subject and simplifying it as much as possible. The form and style maintain the tribal mood and the use the limit of two colors maintain its simplicity. The designer also kept it very balanced with the color and shapes.
