I really like this poster for Cats the musical because of its simplicity. Solid black back ground with a pair of eyes. Even without the title of the play there you know what you're looking at, a black cat. The contrast of white and yellow on black also has a nice feel. I think one of the more clever parts of the poster, though, if it was intentional, is that the pupils look like dancing figures.

Le Miserables

I have always enjoyed the design of this poster. It uses color and texture to capture the feel of the production, while the girl's expression more directly shows the emotional level involved. It's complex while maintaining the simplicity needed for a clear read.

Theatre Poster

I like this poster especially because it's Fela Kuti. He's one of the most important musicians that seems to be finally getting his due all of these years later. It truly captures the passion and intensity that was his persona. It's like you can actually see his motion. If you knew his background you would obviously agree that the style of this poster is appropriate. The boldness of everything really helps (the outlandish statement, his name in huge big letters with an exclamation mark). You really get the feel that it's something larger than life. The minimalism of this poster is great because it makes you want to know more (and you should).

theatre poster.

This is a theatre poster for moulin rouge. i really like how simple but modern this poster is. you get the sense of the story plot as well even from the simplest form of the beautiful woman and the colors. The red and the black make it seem mysterious yet something desirable to see. This poster gives you ideas of what the musical would be about but keeps you guessing. The text and the colors work really well with the overall composition as well.

Theater Poster - Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd is a dark musical about a barber who slits the throats of his costumers and bakes them into meat pies which he serves in the bakery. This poster suits the mood of the story very well because the story is set in London and the shirt and top hat that are shown here are indicative of that time period and the razor blade dripping with blood tells that this story won't have a happy ending.

Theater Poster - The Wiz

I really like this poster because of its strong sense of movment. Also the simplicity of form and color reminds me of Milton Glaser's bob dylan poster. It fits with the play because it brings out the dedication that dorothy had to get home by showing the figure moving forward unopposed and with confidence.

Theater Poster

I chose the poster from Beauty and the Beast. It's pretty classy with its use of the beast's silhouette and the bright red rose. It being a monochromatic poster brings drama but also foreshadowing on what is so important about this rose with a falling pedal.
